Get yourself a microwave one you will never look back.

Amazing how many people struggle with rice lol.

A machine to wash it would be nice!

If you have a pan with a lid you already have a rice cooker . 100g rice use 150g salted water. Bring to a simmer then cover tightly and simmer on lowest heat for 15 mins. Turn off heat and leave it covered for another 15mins. Remove lid and fluff the rice up!

Rice stuck to the pot and water all over the stove.

Maybe I didn’t persevere long enough.

£10 from Asda if you only need 1 litre …£10 from Asda if you only need 1 litre size.https://direct.asda.com/george/home/cooking-appliances/rice-cooker/050462877,default,pd.html

i have the rice cooker in this post. i have had for several years now but i may need a new one as the rice keeps sticking to the pan. it started doing so when i used easy to cook rice, so i am hoping that when i finish that, and go back to normal rice, it won’t stick anymore. else i need a new rice cooker.

the asda one would be perfect as i find this one too big. but the nearest asda click and collect is 6.5 miles from us.

I hope you all soak the rice prior to use, and clean the starch off.
But seriously, at home, who the heck needs a litre and a half of rice in one meal?

Clearly never been to an Asian household

Thats true, the asians was it a couple of times to get rid of bugs and excess starch and then put it in a rice cooker, dip their finger in and put the water to the first joint on their finger above the rice and bingo. Comes out perfect every time.

Total convert on this, Fill up water to just below the 2 line, put 215 grams of rice in and your done for rice for 2-3 people. Stir three times during cook so it doesn’t stick.

Anyone try the rice strainer bowls available on eBay to make washing rice easier?

Rice is too easy in a pan. Get some water boiling and add a bit of salt. Put the rice in. Quantities don’t matter just use common sense and put enough water in to cover the rice. Leave on medium heat/rolling boil for exactly 10mins. Don’t touch it. If the water evaporates add some more. Turn off the heat. Drain the rice. Pour some boiling water over it. Done.

For those that want to use a pan/pot .
1 cup of rice with 1½ cups of water.
Bring to boil and when water is almost turn of heat and simmer.

If using gas hob, when water almost gone, just reduce flame to its lowest possible flame on your hob and simmer.

If you adding frozen vegetables in your rice, reduce the water from 1½ to about 1⅓ ish as the veges will have some moisture in them. You don’t want soggy rice 😜

Heat for the cooker too. I have one, though old.

Water shouldn’t be able to escape! Put a sheet of foil over the pan, then the lid on top of the foil which should create a better seal 🤞
