The Instant Vortex air fryer and Ninja Foodi pressure cooker are both on sale at Walmart — get the first for $82 (a $17 savings) and the latter for $149 (a savings of $40) as of March 27.

Eating is weird these days.

Meal routines have been completely thrown off, whether that’s due to the uncertainty of when you’ll get groceries next or simply due to the hours of every day becoming a blur.

But the importance of routine-based eating can’t be understated, especially during times when it’s so easy to stress over the current crisis in lieu of self-care. A new, fun kitchen appliance could be a wise purchase right now. And look: Two of our favorite little cookers, the Ninja Foodi and Instant Vortex, are on sale at Amazon.

Instant Pot vs. Ninja Foodi: How to compare these trendy cooking devices

Appliances with multiple cooking functions (like these) can offer your daily menu some serious versatility — and when trips to the grocery store are now just a chaotic scramble to stock up for the next few months, I think we’d all kill for some ways to spice up those 12 boxes of pasta.

4-in-1 Instant Vortex air fryer — $82 (save $17)

Instant Pot released a slew of new cooking devices in fall 2019, one of them being an ultra-affordable basket-style air fryer (a nice alternative to the bigger Instant Vortex Plus). The touchscreen is an obvious selling point, and it’s where you’ll choose between cooking modes for air fry, roast, bake, and reheat.

The basket is roomier than most air fryers of the same design and can actually hold its advertised 6-quart capacity, as well as a whole pound of chicken.

7-in-1 Ninja Foodi pressure cooker — $149 (save $40)

The only worthy Instant Pot competitor comes in the form of the Ninja Foodi, which is self-dubbed “the pressure cooker that crisps.” Unlike the Instant Vortex mentioned above, the Foodi is a true pressure cooker and air fryer (that can also steam, slow cook, sear/sauté, and bake/roast).

There’s no touchscreen here (sigh), but the press of a button and simple swap of the lids lets you reach a myriad of textures without needing to move anything to the oven. It’s one quart smaller than the Instant Vortex, but the oval-shaped pan is optimal for roasts.
